The Store of Requirement is in Samford

“It does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live” or “If you want to know what a man’s like, take a good look at how he treats his inferiors not his equals” and “I am what I am an’ I’m not ashamed!”

I love all these quotes and I also love where they all come from……yes for those in the know they are magical quotes to live by from the Harry Potter series! And just a short drive out to Station Street, Samford it’s all there!

How lucky are we that in our own backyard of Samford the magical Store of Requirement has come to life and it’s as exciting as you could ever imagine for young and old alike?

Situated in the picturesque Samford surrounded by rolling green hills what better place to feel that you could be part of the whole wizardry scene. Kim the store’s owner often jokes that it sets the mood for coming in as it’s like you are on your own trip to Hogwarts, or at least someplace magical and it does feel just like that.

Out the front you’ll be greeted by Arthur Weasley’s Ford Anglia, Hedwig is there out of her cage overlooking the entrance and if you need it there’s even a spot for parking a Nimbus 2000.

Walking inside it’s a matter of where to look first. There is so much to see and choose from and all official Harry Potter merchandise. There are house robes, wands, brooms, jewellery, games and puzzles, books, you can buy your own Marauders’ Map, Ron’s Deluminator, the Tri-Wizard Cup or one of their best sellers, Hermione’s Time Turner Necklace or her wand. All products are of course replicas and range in prices from $5 to over $500. There’s something for everyone and every budget.

If you go on the weekend you can find out which house you should be in as the witches with the help of the magical sorting hat can help you with that. There are also Herbology classes on Saturday afternoons from 2.30pm to 3.30pm.

Birthday parties can be hosted here and need to be booked in advance as they are growing in popularity.

It’s easy to see that all the staff have a great love and appreciation for anything Harry Potter and the series having watched the series and read the books many times.

Kim loves being part of the magic and bringing fun to fans of all ages. She said she loves working at the store as she gets to be as geeky as she likes and enjoys talking with all like-minded people about something that brings hope, happiness and magic to millions of people all over the world.

Kim’s dream and biggest wish would be to actually have magic to make cleaning easier and she would LOVE to meet some of the big stars and say thank you for their portrayal of her favourite (and not so favourite) characters for bringing them to life. She would also love to say thank you to the many Authors whose books she has read. Kim loves reading and believes it is the greatest form of escapism one can have for a few hours each day.

The Store of Requirement proudly supports Egypt Equine Aid, a not for profit organisation that helps the working horses in the Pyramid area of Cairo get medical assistance.

The store in Samford opened on 31 July 2017 (Harry Potter’s birthday) and this year on his birthday they also opened another store in Collingwood, Melbourne. Luckily for all your wizard needs our local store is open from Wednesday – Sunday 10am – 4pm.

Bookings for Herbology classes and Birthday parties can be made on 0490 868 787, magic@thestoreofrequirement.com.au and follow their Facebook page too.
